Senior Software Engineer

Location: Columbia, Maryland, or work from home
Position Description:

Bricata is looking for a full time Senior Software Engineer to join our development team to support the continued development of our Analytics platform. The individual will be responsible for the design, development and support of new functionality for the Bricata Sensor, CMC and other applications as needed.

Skills and Requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of C, C++ with an emphasis of C11 and templates; minimum of 5 years development experience
  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of the following languages and toolsets:  JavaScript
  • Database experience PostgreSQL or other
  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of Linux application development, including experience developing Kernel Drivers
  • Strong and demonstratable knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, TLS
  • The ability to work independently and deliver on time

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Zeek (aka Bro-Ids)
  • Experience with Suricata and or SNORT
  • Web development with Angular JS

Professional Services Engineer

Location: Dallas, TX

Job Overview:
Bricata Professional Services consultants work with Bricata’s customers to plan, implement, integrate and operationalize their network defense architectures. Simply put, our goal is to help Bricata customers get the most out of their deployments. In doing so, our responsibility is to provide the technical expertise, strategic vision and tactical recommendations needed to employ a wholistic cyber defense strategy, with Bricata at its core.

The Bricata Professional Services team is looking for a driven security professional to join its consultancy. In this role you will serve as a technical account manager and dedicated Subject Matter Expert (SME) to one of Bricata’s largest enterprise customers. You will oversee all implementation and integration efforts, manage all system operations and serve as technical lead on threat hunting and development of countermeasures and threat intelligence.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with one of Bricata’s largest customers, serving as primary account manager and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Collaborate with customer operations and engineering teams to implement, configure, tune and enhance Bricata deployments in the environment
  • Manage and monitor Bricata system health and performance, identify ways to become more proactive and efficient at identifying and resolving issues
  • Actively analyze alerts and network metadata to proactively identify active threats and suspicious activity in the environment
  • Develop custom signatures, scripts and data enrichment to aid in threat detection and incident response
  • Provide training to security operations and incident response teams on various aspects of Bricata implementation, management and usage
  • Develop and publish system and procedural documentation
  • Develop and publish after-action reports to clearly articulate analysis findings and recommendations

Candidate Requirements:

  • 5 years experience in cybersecurity and network defense
  • Experience as incident response, computer forensics and/or red team/penetration test practitioner
  • Familiarity with incident response workflows and incident investigation lifecycle
  • Familiarity with contemporary enterprise change management processes
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking and common application-layer protocols
  • Experience deploying, managing and writing custom rules for Suricata
  • Experience deploying, managing and writing custom scripts for Zeek (formerly Bro)
  • Proficient in the use of Linux command shell and interpreted scripting languages such as Bash and Python
  • In-depth knowledge of common operating systems and security solutions
  • Knowledge of the cyber threat landscape as it applies to industry verticals such as health care
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience presenting in front of small to medium sized groups ranging from executive leadership to technical audiences like engineering and cyber operations teams
  • Driven, team-focused and customer service-oriented with ability to articulate Voice of Customer (VOC) to Bricata Engineering and Customer Experience leadership teams
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 years related work experience

Director of Professional Services

Job Overview:

The Bricata Customer Experience team is seeking a proven professional service leader to build and grow its Professional Services organization.

The Director of Professional Services at Bricata is responsible for leading successful platform deployments, threat hunting engagements, training, and establishing the strategic vision for the Bricata Professional Services (BPS) organization. In this high-profile role, you will develop new service offerings to drive customer success, and enable Bricata customers to plan, implement, integrate and operationalize their network defense architectures.

BPS works with Product Management, Engineering, and Support to align platform capabilities with company vision, industry best practices, and customer requirements. As the leader of this team you will develop service offerings to drive improved customer outcomes and help our customers get the most from the Bricata platform. Working with sales you will educate the team on the value of these offerings and as a player/coach you will participate in the delivery of these service offerings while building a team to support the growth of the business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver deployment, configuration, tuning and training services to Bricata customers
  • Act as a player/coach, successfully delivering services while you grow your team to support ongoing customer needs and the growing demand for Bricata services
  • Refine and develop Bricata Professional Services strategy, ensuring that offerings are aligned with customer needs
  • Design and deploy new service offerings to promote customer success and account development
  • Regularly collaborate with members of Sales, Marketing and Product teams to educate and train personnel on service offerings and cross-team operations
  • Work directly with Bricata’s largest customers, serving as primary account manager and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Support to measure customer health, drive adoption and align service offerings to customer use cases
  • Work with Sales to ensure Professional Service offerings are correctly scoped, positioned and priced during the pre-sales process
  • Maintain an active role in the open source communities Bricata supports, acting as a network security evangelist and a guide for improving their implementation within the Bricata platform

Candidate Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced professional services and security leader with a background in network security operations, security product consulting and/or managed security services. The candidate should have a demonstrated history of excellence leading teams in a customer-facing capacity.

The candidate should have:

  • A strong understanding of network security operations, incident response, and the development of network countermeasures
  • Demonstrated success overseeing a team of consultants and player/coach experience
  • A team focus – you are driven and customer service-oriented, with ability to articulate Voice of Customer (VOC) to Bricata Engineering and Customer Experience leadership teams
  • A passion for startups – you are entrepreneurial and understand how to build and grow a successful business and are able to adapt and innovate to advance capabilities both incrementally or radically when required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology, particularly networking and systems administration
  • Experience using and tuning Zeek (formerly known as Bro) and Suricata implementations; these technologies are foundational to the Bricata platform
  • Experience with Professional Services project scoping, creation of Statements of Work, and providing audit documentation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to comfortably present to C-level executives, Bricata leadership and other forums
  • Ability to speak at conferences and evangelize for Bricata network monitoring capabilities

It will be beneficial if the candidate has:
