Vienna, VA, April 17, 2015 – Bricata LLC, the pioneer of high-throughput next generation intrusion prevention security systems (NGIPS), today announced its selection as a Finalist for the 2015 INVESTMARYLAND Challenge by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED). The State’s international business competition, the INVESTMARYLAND Challenge, recognizes the ingenuity and drive of the best and brightest entrepreneurs and young companies.
Bricata is a top 12 finalist selected from a field of 214 entrants across four categories by a group of successful entrepreneurs, investors, educators and other judges in Maryland’s entrepreneurial community. As a finalist in the Defense & Security category, Bricata is now competing against two other companies for a $100,000 grant. Grand prize winners and special award details will be announced during the April 28th Finale Ceremony at the Maryland Science Center.
Selected for its innovative, high-throughput network security and data protection solutions, Bricata is closing gaps and pushing limits in traditional Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems with their ProAccel™ appliances. This innovative technology is capable of inspecting vast amounts of network traffic – up to 100 Gbps in a single appliance – and offers a robust feature set including breach detection and forensics capabilities that have historically been offered as stand-alone solutions that customers had to purchase separately.
“We are incredibly proud to have been selected as a finalist for the INVESTMARYLAND Challenge,” said John Trauth, CEO/President and Co-Founder, Bricata. “Bricata has really raised the bar for Next Generation Intrusion Prevention, and we’re honored to receive this recognition from the respected industry and educational leaders the DBED has assembled for this competition.”
Bricata’s solutions combine high-performance hardware with multi-threaded processing capabilities and superior accuracy to deliver the ideal NGIPS solution to defend high-volume networks. In addition to core IPS capabilities, Bricata’s ProAccel appliances include full packet capture; breach detection; log aggregation, correlation and management; data protection and exfiltration prevention; and policy enforcement.
“We have engineered our ProAccel solutions based on decades of experience in the intrusion detection and prevention technology market. They are designed with respect to the way modern security teams work,” said John Pirc, Chief Strategy Officer for Bricata. “Not only do we offer inspection speeds faster than anything else available in the market, but we’re combining our core IPS technology with other critical capabilities such as full packet capture, breach detection and forensics tools to give security professionals a contextual understanding of security incidents to expedite remediation and better mitigate risk. Overall, it is a more intelligent platform for enterprise threat defense.”
